2017 Audi SQ7 Redesign

Many new features will be implemented on upcoming sporty version of the full-size crossover Audi Q7. The 2017 Audi SQ7 could be presented very soon, but we still don’t know much about it. We have heard that company is preparing new range-topping SUV, which is going to take over the place of RS Q7, but what it bring is still questionable. The first Audi crossover will get many upgrades, and so far, only sure thing is that will happen under the hood. About styling and interior configuration, there is no reliable information.

Although the long-serving, first-generation Audi Q7 never offered a high-performance variant to do battle with the BMW M or Mercedes-Benz AMG utes, the new Q7 will show no such restraint. Audi will take the formula successfully applied to the Q5, with the SQ5, and adapt it to the Q7, creating the SQ7, the ultimate version of its three-row SUV.

Pricing for the new 2017 Audi SQ7 has been set at $46,120 – $56,670 based on current exchange rates. If there are changes on the 2017 Audi SQ7 we will notify you as soon as possible, so keep follow our blog.

2017 Audi SQ7 Specs

One thing is likely to happen for 2017 Audi SQ7, and it is diesel engine. This crossover heads toward its release with many possibilities to find under its hood, but all of these are diesel. From V8 to monster V12, this vehicle is being tested to various engines, and many of these could be part of rumors surrounding German carmaker and their upcoming model. We also know that diesel drivetrains are going to be supported with ‘e-boost’ turbochargers.

We’ve just been in the new Audi Q7 and find it to be incredibly nimble despite its size. The versions we drove were the regular gasoline and diesel V-6 models but a more powerful, more dynamic Q7 is in the works and has been spotted in prototype form for the first time. The new version will be badged an “SQ7” and is set to debut Audi’s electrically-aided turbocharger technology.

We first caught wind of the new SQ7 last summer, when Audi R&D chief Ulrich Hackenberg confirmed that the vehicle would be the first to feature an electrically-aided turbo. The technology, called E-Boost, is designed to eliminate turbo lag by using an electric motor to spool up the turbo at low engine rpm and then pass things over to the exhaust gases like in a conventional turbo once the revs build up.

2017 Audi SQ7 Release Date

2017 Audi SQ7 Engine

What will give power to 2017 Audi SQ7 is still unconfirmed, although there are many stories about it. Probably the most possible is the one about 4.0-l TDI with twin-turbocharger, ready to develop 430 hp. This V8 unit is not the only in the mix. Some info says that V12 is being tested. According to stories, this powerplant can crunch 737 lb-ft of torque and 500 hp. Since Audi has big plans for 2017 SQ7, this is not impossible. Another 4.0-l diesel could replace outgoing 4.2-l unit, which also had stunning output of 385 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. A quattro all-wheel drive system and tiptronic gearbox are likely to happen on new crossover.

Recently spotted testing (and crashing) at the Nurburgring, the 2017 Audi SQ7 will feature the Volkswagen Group’s new 4.0-liter diesel engine, which replaces the outgoing 4.2-liter TDI mill that produces 385 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque in various models, including the Porsche Cayenne S diesel. A leaked image surfaced on the Internet stating that the SQ7 has a 4.0-liter TDI V8 equipped with quattro all-wheel drive and a tiptronic transmission producing 320 kW or about 430 hp. Although torque figures weren’t released, expect it to be in the 630 lb-ft range so that it bests the current 4.2-liter engine.

Audi has yet to detail the powertrain of this uplevel offering, but rumors swirl that VW Group and Audi R&D chief Ulrich Hackenberg has copped to a uniquely boosted mega-diesel for the SQ7: a V-8 TDI bolstered by an electric supercharger, estimated to make 450 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque. The electric supercharger in combination with turbocharging creates quicker throttle response; the tech was previewed by the RS5 TDI concept. The downside is that it requires a separate, 48-volt power supply, adding cost and complexity. Potentially, Audi also could offer a version of its gasoline-powered 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 as seen in the RS7, where it’s good for 560 ponies. Either would provide a significant performance boost over the standard Q7’s top engine, a 333-hp 3.0-liter supercharged V-6.

Nevertheless, not only conventional engines will be offered with 2017 Audi SQ7, but also hybrids. In these kinds of SUVs, 3.0-l V6 will be mated to electric motor. Third charger gives electric power and boosts performance of 2017 Audi SQ7. An all-wheel drive is being used and crossover can make 373 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. This is not the first time German automaker is using e-boost turbocharging system, since RS5 TDI concept used it during 2014.
