The 2017 Kia Forte comes under the category of a family of compact sedans, with numerous diverse body styles and engines. A demonstrative design, an agile driving personality, and a value-centric attribute set are general points amid them, which assist the 2017 model to stand out in a strongly competitive segment of the market.

Its appeal is further broadened by its dizzying features such as a lengthy warranty coverage, a spacious interior for both coupe and sedan, easy-to-use controls, lots of standard features, and strong engines on both the Forte SX and EX trims. The Kia Forte release date should be expected sometime in the first half of 2017, at least according to various industry and media reports.

So far, the Forte has not fairly manages the super-sophisticated sweet spot set by the most recent Optima mid-size car and Sportage and Sorento crossovers. However, Kia appears to be seeking a bit more synergy between the Forte and those other thriving models, offering an innovative direct-injection powertrain to some of the array, a more athletic Forte S model, and an innovative package of active safety attributes to the lineup.

Up until now, the Forte hasn’t quite manages the super-refined sweet spot set by the latest Optima mid-size sedan and Sorento and Sportage crossovers. 2017 Kia Forte Specs

The 2017 model, albeit featuring subtle tweaks almost everywhere, returns almost unchanged. One notable area that has received better-than-average change is its interior. We are particularly impressed by the level of refinement and upscale technologies offered by Kia. Some of the technologies include keyless ignition and entry, xenon headlights, USB connectivity, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, and selectable steering assist. Others are heated rear seats, and ventilated driver seats.

The inside design undergoes minimum modifications only. The seats within the cabin keep the same general design, but the technology and material features fluctuate according to the trim level. Hence, the LX model comes equipped with the better cloth for the seats, whereas the S model comes equipped with black cloth with white distinction sewing, leather-enveloped shifter and guiding wheel, and UVO33 infotainment arrangement. The EX model comes equipped leather, 10-way electronically adjustable heated seats, double-position memory settings, back passenger vents, twin-zone mechanical HVAC controls, UVO33 infotainment structure and button start by a Smart Key.

The external design will be the same as that of the outgoing model. The front fascia of the vehicle comes outfitted with the similar tiger nose grille that has been extended to join with the fresh headlamps. The front fraction of the vehicle comes outfitted with a grille of the equal width like that of its forerunner and its sides do not incline much inward like in the existing Forte, providing the grille with a rectangular structure than before. On the 2017 Forte, the headlamp is not as high, and the entire inboard headlamp edge meets the grille, providing the new vehicle with a much-improved front look.

The front face of the vehicle also comes outfitted with bigger mist lights that have been moved inside to sit near the air dam. This allows Kia to insert a small air vent on each corner, providing the front part of the vehicle a more athletic look. Just about the sides, the new vehicle comes outfitted with the identical doors, mirrors, and a broad V body stripe on the lower branch of the doors.

The 2017 Kia Forte packs in some new active-safety features, including autonomous emergency braking, rear cross traffic alert, front collision warning, lane change assist, and dynamic bending lights. As of this time, Kia still hasn’t detailed how these new features will be available, but we’re expecting them to be offered as part of an option package on the EX and perhaps S. Otherwise, the Forte has been below par in safety compared to other models in its class. Last year Kia improved the Forte’s frontal impact score to four stars, and its IIHS small overlap rating up to “marginal,” yet it remains one we wouldn’t recommend to the safety-focused.

Both optional and standard external features vary in accordance with the model. The S trim comes equipped with external features that include a back spoiler, 16-inch alloy wheels, LED daylight running lights and chrome exhaust tip. alternatively, the EX trim will be offered with optional external features, such as 17-inch alloy wheels, LED taillights, Smart Key with border approach light and automatic bending headlamps.

The Forte5 hatch lineup continues in LX, EX, and turbocharged SX trim levels. The Forte Sedan lineup comes in LX and EX trim, with a sporty new Forte S slotted between them. The Forte S is equipped with 16-in. aluminum wheels, LED running lights, rear spoiler, and a chrome exhaust tip.

The Forte5 LX comes with projector-beam headlights and remote keyless entry. Upgrade to the EX for new perimeter approach lighting. The Forte5 EX also gets new LED taillights, while the Forte EX Sedan gains LED headlights and new 17-in. aluminum wheels.

2017 Kia Forte Engine

Each model gets their required power resource from different engines. As a result, LX and S trims would come outfitted with a new 4-cylinder Atkinson, Inline-four engine with the capacity of 2.0 liters. This 2017 Kia Forte engine will be coupled with a six-rate manual gearbox as standard, and a six-rate automatic gearbox comes as an option.

Alternatively, the EX trim comes outfitted with 4-cylinder, GDI engine with the capacity of 2.0 liters and it will be coupled with a six-rate mechanical transmission.
Kia also established that the new S trim would be offered with a sport-attuned suspension, meaning it would be able to do better than other models.

For 2017, the 1.8-liter in-line four is now gone from the lineup. The Forte still offers two different engines; they’re both 2.0-liter fours, but that’s where the similarities end. Forte LX and S models get a 2.0-liter iron-block in-line four, while EX models come with a 2.0-liter four that has an aluminum block and direct injection. Power figures haven’t yet been finalized. The 2.0-liter that’s been carried over to LX and S models made 173 hp this past year; Kia says that the new engine will bring improved performance and fuel economy, but but don’t be surprised if the EX version and its “new tech” engine make about the same power.

One of the big changes that Kia makes to the 2017 Forte is the addition of a new 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine to replace the outgoing 1.8-liter unit. Horsepower, torque, and fuel-economy estimates were not finalized prior to the announcement in Detroit, but Kia says the new engine is more powerful and more efficient than the motor it replaces.

A 6-speed manual gearbox is standard equipment, with an updated 6-speed automatic transmission available as an option. The Forte EX Sedan is offered only with the automatic. Drive Mode Select technology provides the driver with a choice between Normal, Eco, and Sport settings.
