2017 Nissan 370Z Review

Since its introduction in the 1960s, the Nissan Z has managed to establish a loyal following all over the world. Many enthusiasts love the car’s great looks, amazing reliability and its affordable price. To many, the Nissan Z presents the easiest way to get a well equipped and performing sports car. The current generation, dubbed the Nissan 370 Z has been on sale for the last 5 years with barely any changes. For the last five years, the automaker reckons that its sales have not varied by a significant margin despite the lack of changes. Due to this reason, Nissan is hesitant to mess with the model by hooking it up with new changes. The 2017 Nissan 370 Z presents the best example of not fixing something that isn’t broke.

With so much the same, it seems the only thing that’s changed for the 2017 edition of Nissan’s veritable Z sports car is the lick of yellow paint buyers can now choose for the exterior. And that’s really the only option you have for 2017.

The Nissan company brought the prototype of the new Z successor to the Chicago Auto Show in February 2015. When creating the concept, developers aimed to study the reaction of potential customers to the introduction of the production model of the new more powerful coupe. According to representatives of the company the new 2017 Nissan 370Z aims to become an outstanding representative of Z line sports cars.

Like last year, Nissan’s coupe comes in four coupe trims (base, Sport, Sport Tech, and Touring), two Nismo trims (base, Tech), and three roadster trims (base, Touring, and Touring Sport). As mentioned above, opting for the Nismo gets you extra power. It also gets you niceties such as 19-inch forged alloy wheels from RAYS, a functional body kit, leather-lined Recaro bucket seats, enhanced suspension, bigger brakes, and a limited-slip differential.

2017 Nissan 370Z Specs

The 370 Z cabin is built with the driver in mind. The controls are conveniently located to ensure the driver has everything within reach. While lower trims are wrapped in a premium fabric, higher trims feature leather upholstered seats which are both heated and ventilated.

The model feature a 3-spoke, tilt steering wheel which is wrapped in leather with a baseball-style contrast stitching. The shifter in automatic models and the gear lever in manual models are wrapped in leather. The gear lever also features extra padding for better grip.

he base offers LED running lights and taillights, a CD player, a power-operated convertible soft-top, automatic climate control, summer performance tires, 18-inch wheels, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, cruise control, an auxiliary audio jack, a tilt-only steering wheel, keyless entry and ignition, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a four-speaker sound system, and bi-xenon headlights.

The model also features aluminum-trimmed pedals. Other features include an upgraded navigation system and Nissan’s Intelligent Key. For entertainment the 370 Z features an 8-speaker Bose Audio system that features a subwoofer, SiriusXM satellite radio and Bluetooth connectivity.

The model is offered in both Coupe and Roadster bodies. Both look identical except for the Roadster’s open rooftop.  At the front, the 370 Z features a large grille. The grille is flanked by boomerang shaped HID bi-functional xenon headlights LED DRLs as well as new air vents which look like blades. The vehicle also features a modified splitter which is a bit protruding. The bumper on the other hand looks more stylish with its 3-piece element style. Its hood, door panels and trunk lid are made with aluminum to minimize the car’s weight.

The convertible’s folding fabric roof top retracts in only 20 seconds via the touch of a button. To reduce wind turbulence, the Roadster features a wind deflector.

The sides feature new red accents on the side skirts as well as black side mirrors. The model rides on 18-inch wheels as standard. 2017 Nissan 370Z Engine

Just like other departments, the power-train is also unchanged. The model together with the Nismo continue with the 3.7 L, V-6 engine which churns out 332 hp and 270 lb-ft of toque on the base 370 Z and 350 hp on the Nismo.

The engines are paired to either a 7-speed automatic transmission system or a 6-speed manual gearbox. The engine enables the model to hit 60 mph from standstill in 4.7 seconds.

With an excellent handling, a relatively low price, a strong V6 engine, a cool rev-matching manual transmission system, and a high-quality interior, the 2017 Nissan 370Z promises to be an appealing and dedicated sports car. But from a vantage point of refinement and/or practicality, you will better off with other choices. Its release date should be expected in July 2017.

The 2017 Nissan 370Z will be available as a coupe or convertible; 6-speed manual or 7-speed automatic; Nismo edition (coupe only) or as a brown, diesel, manual droptop. Note: One of those things is made up.

There is much to like on the 2017 Nissan 370Z but there seems to be a cautionary “but” somewhere in between the lines. Nissan has just like before continued to relive the 370Z within its latest long line of “Z” convertibles and coupes that feature six-cylinder power, a RWD, and a sporty exterior and interior styling.

Under the hood is the same 3.7-liter V-6 found in the 370Z since the car’s launch. It’s an engine most know and love or loathe and it comes with the same 332 horsepower it produced last year. Nismo coupes get a bump to 350 hp, once again same as last year.
