2017 Peugeot 3008 GT Changes

Peugeot only launched the 3008 lineup of crossover SUVs in 2016. Now, only a year later, the automaker is set to add two trims in the new lineup. The new models are the top-of-the-range 300 GT and a GT Line. The GT Line is a model which brides the gap between the standard 3008 models and the GT. This review  focuses on the range topping 2017 Peugeot 3008 GT.

A truly modern expression of driving pleasure, aimed at aesthetes who are looking for a new driving experience, the GT version crowns the brand’s new SUV range. Exclusively equipped with the 2.0L BlueHDi 180 S&S EAT6, the new Peugeot 3008 GT has the benefit of a series of specific attributes as well as the optional unique and distinctive “Coupe Franche” paint design. In addition, the GT Line trim-level offers, on more affordable engine versions, a synthesis of sporty and top-of-the-range looks. The new Peugeot 3008 GT and GT Line are a key part of the brand’s move up-range and will be available from the start of the commercial launch from October 2016.

Peugeot has upgraded  the model to up its game against premium compact crossover SUVs in the market. The model has been upgraded with exclusive exterior features, a more luxurious cabin and a befitting mill under its hood.

Designed for drivers who want to stand out in a crowd, the 3008 GT gained a bunch of exclusive exterior features for a more stylish appearance and a more premium interior enhanced by full-grain leather, real wood, and high-end stitching. Although it’s not hugely different from the standard model, the GT has just enough little touches to make it different, and the more luxurious interior places it higher on the premium market an area where no Peugeot has dared to enter in recent decades.

A thicker-rimmed and silver-accented version of the 3008’s steering wheel is also featured for a more sporting look. Peugeot describes a “contoured” shape to the nappa leather-trimmed seats, although it is unclear if this means buyers can expect a more firmly bolstered position.

The GT model will be joined by a GT-Line trim grade at the top level of the regular 3008 range, adding sports styling to the high-spec Allure model.

Those tricks include a sports front bumper with full LED lights and the GT grille, along with stainless-steel finishers and weather strips at the quarters.

2017 Peugeot 3008 GT Changes

The exterior design of the new Peugeot 3008 SUV is very powerful. It has adopted all the characteristics of the SUVs, is surprisingly expressive and has an extremely consistent look. The proportions are perfect, the design is inspired. For the GT version, the designers used these qualities and maintained them in the right proportions. Not over-doing it, maintaining the harmony, whilst keeping the specific features which give the model its exclusive feel.

The front side thus sports an exclusive sporty grille. It is broad, and surrounded by a strip which is no longer chrome, but bi-aspect “Sanded Chrome”, and it proudly frames the brand’s lion logo in the centre of a chequered chrome radiator grille. The overall effect is rounded off by the exclusive bumper design combined with the full LED headlights. The steely, sporty look of this front end express the assertive personality of its owner and the pride associated with the brand. A real Peugeot! A real GT!

The elegant profile is highlighted by the line of the stainless steel rear quarter light and window trim finisher. Along with the stainless steel trim which runs along the roof to the rear spoiler, they frame the glazed surfaces with streamlined elegance. Thus highlighted, the beltline’s proportions give it a lower and more dynamic look than the majority of its competitors. With its widened wheel arches, 19″ alloy wheels, slender streamlined aluminium roofbars and copper GT monogram on the front wing, it has an impressive profile! Especially if it has the emblematic “Coupe Franche” dual colour paint design! This takes the new Peugeot 3008 GT into another world, that of exceptional vehicles.

2017 Peugeot 3008 GT Specs

Like any other GT models, the 3008 GT comes with a number of exterior upgrades that make it look more elegant and sportier compared to its siblings.  At the front, the 3008 GT features a revised bumper which is more prominent. The bumper combines with the model’s wider wheel arches to give the model a wider and more aggressive look.  The grille has unique chrome trim while the headlights feature sequential scrolling LED signals.

Gone are the standard seats in standard 3008 models which have been replaced with new sport seats. The seats are also luxuriously upholstered with a combination of Nappa Mistral leather and Brumeo cloth. Things get better for the driver where the new seat is offered with multipoint massage function, memory settings and power adjustment, an option for the standard models. A panoramic glass roof is also offered as standard. The roof comes with an electric interior blind as well as blue ambient lighting.

For extra convenience, the model comes with the new i-Cockpit which features a huge 12.3-inch touch-screen on the dash. A second 8.0-inch screen hosts the instrument cluster. The automaker has also hooked up the 30008 GT with a flat-bottomed sport steering wheel.

While inferior models ride on 17- and 18-inch wheels as standard, the 3008 GT comes with larger, 19-inch rollers. These also sport a unique two-tone design and diamond-cut finish. The full LED headlamps with sequential scrolling LED indicators are also standard. For customers looking to stand out on the road, Peugeot Peugeot offers the Coupe Franche paint option. Connectivity is also well taken off with addition of the MirrorScreen which enables a Smartphone screen to be reproduced on the vehicle’s touch-screen to easily access apps. The system is compatible with Apple CarPlay and of course MirrorLink. The system is further supported by a remote voice recognition system which enables the driver to operate various tasks such as making calls, browsing music or sending texts without shifting his/her attention from the road.

On the sides, the GT features chrome mirror caps and revised aluminum roof rails. Unlike the standard models which feature 17-inch or 18-inch wheels, the 300GT rides on 19-inch, two-tone alloy wheels.

Audiophiles are not left in the cold as the model comes with a 10-speaker premium Focal audio system along with mid-range woofers and TNF tweeters. The system features a 7.8-inch screen on the Power Flower subwoofer. With the additional 12-channel amplifier, the system churns out 515 watts for your ultimate indulgence.

The cabin has also been revised to suit its top-of-the-range status. The automaker has taken the standard 3008 cabin and added an array of luxury features to make it more luxurious and comfortable.  The revisions start with the dash where the automaker has added a genuine aged-oak trim. This oak trim extends to the upper door panels. The dash also features Aikinite copper double contrast stitching which is also used on the center armrest, door panels, floor mats, the steering wheel and the gear lever.

2017 Peugeot 3008 GT Engine

The 3008 GT gets its juice from the most powerful engine available with the new 3008 lineup. The unit in question is the 2.0-liter BlueHDi 180, and it’s rated, as the nomenclature suggests, at 180 PS (177 horsepower) and 295 pound-feet of torque. The oil burner mates to a six-speed automatic transmission. Performance and fuel economy figures aren’t yet available, but Peugeot promises “outstanding engine efficiency.”
