This type of models was introduced in the market in the year 2008 and was an instant hit. The model will receive a general makeover to make it look like an SUV rather than a crossover. This modeling shape was adopted to favor the Chinese market since the crossover is not that known in the Chinese market. The model, popularly known as the 2017 Peugeot 3008 will bring revolution in the car industry.

The all-new 3008 appears to take Peugeot’s MPV crossover in a more rugged direction than the current, MPV-like model. Taking inspiration from the Quartz hybrid SUV that was revealed at the 2014 Paris show, and the new 3008 features a low side window line and a sloping roofline.

As the spy shots show, it will have a higher driving position to bring it in line with rivals such as the Ford Kuga, Mazda CX-3 and Nissan Qashqai.

French automaker Peugeot is working on a new compact crossover, as evidenced by our latest spy shots. The vehicle is the second generation of the 3008 and should be launched in markets where the French brand is sold sometime early next year. That means a reveal should take place this year, most likely at the Paris Auto Show in October.

2017 Peugeot 3008 Specs

2017 Peugeot 3008 Changes

Besides getting a full redesign that will most likely move it into a new segment, the 3008 is also set to receive a new platform. The new model will ditch PSA ’s current PF2 underpinnings launched in 2001 and shared with numerous products in favor of the more recent EMP2 architecture.

Developed to replace both the PF2 and PF3 platforms and costing PSA roughly $708 million to develop, the new architecture already underpins the Peugeot 308 and 408, along with the Citroen C4 Picasso. The platform will also expand to other vehicles developed under the PSA General Motors alliance.

2017 Peugeot 3008 Specs

The 2017 Peugeot 3008 will feature a body shape that is not complex. In the previous model, there was a good use of high-quality materials in the interior side, and this is bound to happen in this upcoming model. The seats are firmly fitted to prevent much movement to ensure maximum comfort for the passengers. Materials used in the production of this model will be a mixture of alloys and some low weight materials like magnesium and reinforced carbon fiber.

Like the exterior, the inside of the 3008 will benefit from many changes, though I wouldn’t expect anything too radical. The interior is also likely to be based on the 308, but include SUV-like features such as a higher and wider center console, as well as a slightly higher seating position. It’s impossible to tell at this stage how the transition from an MPV to a crossover layout will affect interior space, but practicality shouldn’t be an issue.

On the front, you will find what is being called the I Cockpit due to the advanced features. Few buttons will be available to control the system though the touch operative will be the mostly used. The touchscreen is highly favored by the Chinese customers due to its ease in typing characters. Internet connectivity is going to be available via the WiFi. The drive will get the chance of receiving and placing calls by the use of the hands-free mode available in the 2017 Peugeot 3008 model. The Bluetooth connection will be available on all models. This Bluetooth will also enable users to stream content from their smartphones.

2017 Peugeot 3008 Review

2017 Peugeot 3008 Engine

The new 3008 is expected to receive a range of three- and four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines, but not much is known about it at this point. However, it is likely for the 3008 to receive the 308’s 130-horsepower, 1.2-liter three-pot. A plug-in hybrid is also expected to become available at a later date. Front-wheel drive will be standard on most models, but top-level variants should get optional AWD.

The current 3008 uses a 1.6-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine and two diesels, displacing 1.6 and 2.0 liters respectively. The gasoline-powered 3008 comes with either 118 horsepower and 118 pound-feet of torque or 154 horses and 177 pound-feet or torque. In the diesel department, the entry-level model features a 1.6-liter four-cylinder making 108 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque. The 2.0-liter four-banger is available with either 148 horses and 251 pound-feet or 161 horses and 251 pound-feet.

Peugeot launched a hybrid model in early 2012 that brings together a diesel engine and an electric motor. Dubbed 3008 HYbrid4, it became the world’s first mass-produced diesel-electric hybrid.

Chances are high that the engine under the hood will either have a capacity of 1.6 liters or 2.0 liters. The first engine will have an average output of 118 and 154 horsepower while the second engine will churn out a power of around 148 and 161 hp. These engines will have either three or four cylinders. This model will have an average acceleration rate reaching speeds of up to 60 mph in about 10 seconds. The 2017 Peugeot 3008 can gain a top speed of 115 mph.

The 2017 model will be fitted with Peugeot’s latest generation of engines, including the 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol that features in the 308 SW. One engine that will not be carried over is the diesel hybrid, which has recently been dropped from the current 3008 range. Instead, a petrol plug-in hybrid is more likely for the next version of the family crossover.

This engine will be paired to a manual or automatic six-speed transmission system. It’s been hinted that though these engines will be gasoline powered, a diesel-powered engine will be produced a well. A hybrid version might as well be introduced In the European market. The hybrid version will have a gasoline powered engine that will work in combination with two electric motors. The 2017 Peugeot 3008 is going to be offered in an all-wheel drive system.
