2017 Volkswagen Beetle Review

For over 7 decades, the Volkswagen Beetle has managed to ride in the streets, freeways and off roads of this earth with minimal changes but has always been popular. Despite the dynamism in the automobile industry, VW has only slightly altered the traditional look of the Beetle. No other car can boast such a long time with minimal changes. For 2017, the Beetle features a host of interior changes to reflect modern trends in the industry. The 2017 Volkswagen Beetle comes in both Coupe and Cabriolet body styles.

The 2017 Volkswagen Beetle Dune convertible wears bold bodywork that writes a check that its run-of-the-mill powertrain can’t cash. While the Dune’s extra 0.2 inch of ground clearance, aggressive fascias, fender flares that widen the body by 0.6 inch, trim-specific 18-inch wheels, and rocker-panel-level “Dune” graphics present the posture of a Global Rallycross car, the front-wheel-drive convertible’s 170-hp 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and smooth-shifting six-speed automatic transmission mean the Dune is little more than a Beetle 1.8T convertible on stilts.

2017 Volkswagen Beetle Price

2017 Volkswagen Beetle Specs

The 2017 Volkswagen Beetle is very attractive especially to the young buyers. In fact, the Beetle presents an affordable way to get your hands on a convertible. The new model retains the all-familiar Beetle cues.  It features an all-rounded body with a sloping hood. It also features circular projector headlights and LED DRLs.   Its bumper has been refined and it’s integrated with square-shaped vents and redesigned fog lights. VW has used chrome on a single line that runs across the lower bumper.

The Design Line and R-Line (previous Beetle Sport) trims feature a brighter instrument panel. In addition, there is an option for a multi-function steering wheel wrapped in leather and special logos on head restraints and sill panel moldings for the Beetle R-Line. Buyers can also opt for Vienna leather or Kyalami design textile for the seats upholstery.

If you feel that is not enough for your Beetle, you can go for the Denim special Beetle. This model is based on the 1974 Jeans Beetle. It features   blue-colored sport seats, an aluminum-blue matte-colored dash pad and jeans-style storage pockets. There will also be Exclusive Beetle models which feature black dash pad, Nappa leather upholstery on seats and side bolsters as well as “Volkswagen Exclusive” lettering on the aluminum-made side panel moldings. For the ALLSTAR special model, there will be a dual-zone climate control system, a Composition Media Radio system integrated with navigation and the unique “Beetle compartment”.

While VW maintains its exterior largely unchanged, the interior is a totally different story. The cabin is equipped with advanced technologies.  The cabin can accommodate five passengers comfortably unlike many coupes and cabriolets.  In lower trims, the cabin will be upholstered in a quality fabric while leather will be the standard upholstery material on top trims.

The dash has been refreshed and features a large touch-screen display. In front of the driver is a new 4-spoke steering wheel integrated with audio playback and Bluetooth telephony controls. The cabin also features Wi-Fi connectivity, a new sound system and an automatic climate control system.

Moving to the rear, you will find redesigned LED taillights and a spoiler with a dual color scheme. The rear also features dual exhaust tips finished in chrome.  Lower trims will ride on 17-inch Philadelphia wheels while higher trims will feature 18-inch Ravenna Adamantium wheels.  The exterior will be available in two new colors which are White Silver Metallic and Bottle Green Metallic.
